When does my car need its first MOT?
Most cars need their first MOT by the third anniversary of registration, then every year afterwards. Some vehicle types follow different rules.
Is an MOT the same as a car service?
No. An MOT checks whether the vehicle meets minimum legal safety and environmental standards on the day of the test. It does not replace routine servicing and does not assess the engine, clutch or gearbox condition.
What should I bring to the appointment?
Please bring the car and any information the team asks for when confirming your booking. Sharing the registration when requesting a time helps us identify the vehicle.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
The result will identify any major or dangerous defects, along with minor defects or advisories where applicable. We will explain the result and discuss repair options before any additional work is started.
Can ThreeBros repair MOT defects?
Yes. Mechanical repairs and bodywork are available from the same Glasgow workshop. Any recommended work is explained and agreed with you first.
